How to Make Weet-Bix Balls?

These little chocolate balls are so fun to make, you will want to make them again and again!

Cacao and coconut, 2 ingredients that go hand in hand!

My friends over atPack Queen recently sent me some lovely samples of their products. They make beautiful and dainty boxes of all sizes and varieties. You should definitely check out their range! I knew I had to make something special to show off their products so I chose to share my Weet-Bix Balls Recipe with you. I love these as they are fun plus you get to add pops of colour.

You guys know how much I love making myOrange and Cacao Bliss Balls. These Weet-Bix balls are a similar idea, but they have no dates or nuts in them. They still give you loads of energy though and are great to have on hand for snack attacks!

What to use to decorate weet-bix balls?

I love using bright colours in my recipes wherever I can and this recipe is no exception. A little while ago on a visit to one of my favourite baking stores, I bought some pretty sprinkles. The pink multi-coloured hearts and green clovers have been sitting in my cupboard ever since and I have been itching to use them!!

Being a huge salad fan, I don't use sprinkles too often, but when I was brain-storming ideas for this recipe, I knew that they would be perfect!

The pops of colour on the Weet-Bix Balls are a fun way of adding texture and visual appeal to your snacks!

Making these bliss balls is very easy. It is as straight forward as adding your dry ingredients to your food processor and blitzing them to combine, then adding your wet ingredient.

What ingredients go into Weet-Bix Balls?

I find it so handy to have snacks around that will curb the chocolate craving. These Weet-Bix balls taste chocolately, but they use cacao powder instead of real chocolate. You could also use cocoa powder which is very similar if you have it in the cupboard already.

The breakfast cereal does have its own recipe on their website for bliss balls using Weet-Bix, but I wanted to create my own version of the snack in a manner that is unique to me.

These balls are perfect for when you are having last minute guests around and you need a quick snack!

About the recipe:

  • The recipe uses real Weet-Bix crushed in the food processor
  • You can substitute cocoa powder for the cacao powder

To answer your questions:

  3. The recipe has no actual chocolate

Don't worry if your balls are not all exactly the same size. I have spent my whole life trying to make things the same size or shape and I still find the process a real struggle!

Weet-Bix recipes to have fun with

You guys know me by now. Time in my kitchen allows me to breathe more slowly, relax, unwind and have fun (even without a glass of wine handy!) I love how quiet my mind is when I am cooking or baking something and this recipe is no different.

The most therapeutic part of this recipe is when we roll the mixture into small little balls and then drop those balls into bowls of sprinkles. I went with a combination of sprinkles, cacao powder and chia seeds as I wanted the diversity across the box of them.

Interestingly, I don't recommend making your Weet-Bix Balls the same size as a standard energy ball. I think these are better a little smaller. They are sweet because of the condensed milk and little bite sizes of them give you a nice treat, but doesn't include going overboard. Unless of course, you gooble them all up, but I will let you be the executive chef on that decision 🙂 .

I rolled these straight from my food processor (after removing the blade) as I didn't want another bowl to clean up!

One bowl is all it takes to make this recipe, with a few smaller dishes for the sprinkles

Notes

  • You can use any colour or texture to roll your balls in at the end (have fun with it!)
  • The mixture needs to set a little before rolling, so use that time to clean up a little so when you are ready to roll most of the hard work is done!
  • I recommend small 2 bite size balls
  • There is no cook time for these as they don't get 'cooked' as such. But I do recommend putting them in the fridge for 10-20 minutes after the mixture is ready (as it is wet) as this will make the process of making the balls a little easier.

Achieving dreams

I have got a ticket to see Cirq Du Soleil's 'O' show at The Bellagio and I am counting the days till then!

I can't wait to achieve a long term dream I have had for many, many years!

I will be really honest with you here.....I am starting to get worried about not being able to cook for so long when I am in America and Canada! Most of the places we are staying do not have cooking facilities let alone fridges, so I think I am going to go into cook time withdrawal.....I am sure that is a thing!
