Honey Garlic Smoked Ribs RECIPE

How to make the Honey Garlic Rub

– A quarter cup of light brown sugar

– 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika

– 1 tablespoon of garlic powder

– 1 tablespoon of Kosher salt

– 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper

– 1 teaspoon of onion powder

Simply mix all of these ingredients in a bowl and then set aside. You can proceed to the following steps while the rub is enhancing all the flavors.

Ingredients for the Honey Garlic Sauce

– 1 cup of honey

– 2 tablespoons of minced garlic

– 1/4 cup of brown sugar

– 1/4 cup of soy sauce

Main Ingredients

– 2 racks of ribs

– 1 cup of honey

– 1 and a half cup of apple juice

– Half cup of water

Procedure

Step 1. Remove the Silver Skin

Silverskin is the thin membrane on the pork’s belly.

You can find this underneath the ribs and you will need toremove it to create a more tender finish on the ribs.

You can easily do this by sliding a knife just underneath one end of the ribs and then using a paper towel, hold the lifted silverskin and rip it from the ribs.

You might not perfect it the first time but it will be effortless in the next tries.

You can also remove it little by little and no one is pressuring you to remove it in one pull.

The silverskin is what prevents the meat from absorbing the rub, and makes the ribs chewy.

We have avideohere that will show you how to remove the Silver Skin and the steps on doing the recipe.

Step 2. Rub the Ribs

As we have briefly said, you can combine the honey garlic rub ahead and let it rest.

This way,the flavors of the delicious spices you put in it will enhance when combined properly.

Use a brush and spread the honey garlic rub on the ribs and make sure that you put it all over the ribs.

You can keep the leftover honey garlic rub and can use it on other cuts of meat. I love this rub and have even used it on various meat cuts and the taste is always delicious.

Wrap the coated ribs with plastic wrap and then put it in the fridge for at least a couple of hours.

Of course, the longer the ribs are drenched in the rub, the more flavorful they will get.

So if you want, you can prepare this the night before and then let it refrigerate overnight.

Step 3. Get the Smoker Ready

Follow the directions from your smoker’s manufacturer and preheat the smoker to 225 degrees Fahrenheit.

This will be the optimal heat for the ribs to get slow and low cooking.

Step 4. Smoke!

Get the ribs and put them on the racks of the smoker bone side down.

Let it smoke at the same temperature for three hours.

While waiting for the ribs, prepare the half cup of apple juice and a half cup of water in a spray bottle and occasionally spray the ribs with it.

You can do this every 30 minutes.

Remove the ribs from the smoker after three hours.

Do not turn the smoker off, leave it at the same temperature, and proceed to the next step.

Step 5. Moisturize

Layout a large tin foil on a table, large enough to wrap the ribs, and then put the ribs on the foil.

Mix another half cup of apple juice and a honey cup in a bowl and stir them until they properly combine.

Pour the mixture into the ribs and then seal them by closing the foil.

Make sure that there are no leaksso that the ribs will absorb the mixture well.

Place the wrapped ribs in the smoker again at the same temperature and then smoke them again for another 2 hours.

Step 6. Mix the Sauce

While waiting for the ribs, mix all the ingredients for the Honey Garlic Sauce in a bowl.

You will need to do this while smoking the ribs to get more flavor.

Step 7. Final Smoking

After 2 hours:

  • Remove the ribs from the smoker once again.
  • Rub the ribs with the honey garlic sauce.
  • Put them back in the smoker for another hour.

Step 8. Serve!

After an hour, get the ribs out of the smoker, and this time, you can turn the smoker off if you are not going to cook anything else.

Coat it once again with the honey garlic sauce and serve!

Tips and Notes

SMoking RIBS USING The 3-2-1 Method

This is the hours that you will need to smoke the ribs to get that fall-off-the-bone texture of the ribs. 3 hours for the first, 2 hours on the second, and an hour for the final smoking.

That is a total of 6 hoursmeaning you cannot smoke ribs like this if you do not have much time.

So it is best to smoke ribs during weekends or when you are at home for the day.

Even if you think that you will be back after six hours, you cannot leave the ribs behind for six hours as you are still going toneed to coat it with sauce and rubs on the intervals.

Remove the Silver Skin off the ribs

Ensure that you remove the membrane underneath the ribs to get as much of the rub and the sauce into the ribs.

This is pretty easy and you can use a knife and paper towel to do it.

Removing this membrane will also make the ribs softer.

The chewy texture you get in your ribs might be because of the membrane.
