One of the key ingredients to a delicious vanilla latte or macchiato is vanilla syrup. Although I didn’t drink fancy coffees from Starbucks very often, I still occasionally get a craving for them. With my Homemade Vanilla Syrup Recipe you can make your own coffee drinks at home! And the BEST part is that YOU control the ingredients, which means there’s nothing unexpected or unnecessary.
Here’s what’s in Starbucks Vanilla Syrup:SUGAR, WATER, NATURAL FLAVORS, PRESERVATIVE: POTASSIUM SORBATE (E202), CITRIC ACID (E330), COLOR: CARAMEL (E150D).
And here’s what’s in myHomemade Vanilla Syrup Recipe: HONEY, MAPLE SYRUP, WATER, VANILLA BEANS.
I don’t think there’s any reason for me to get into the details of WHY the Starbucks Vanilla Syrup is bad for your health, I think it’s obvious 🙂
When you make your own coffee beverages you aren’t just getting health benefits of myHomemade Vanilla Syrup Recipe, you can also choose organic coffee and raw milk or dairy-free milk alternative of your preference. You can even top them with homemade coconut whipped cream!
Since this it’s aliquid, it’s not only great for hot coffeebut it will quickly blend into Iced & Cold Brew Coffee. It also makes a simple healthy vanilla cream soda if added to seltzer water. The possibilities are endless 🙂

I don’t know why I didn’t make these Grain Free Fried Shrimp sooner! For the first 11 years that my hubby and I were together he had a seafood allergy and couldn’t eat his beloved shrimp. After our transition to a diet of nutrient dense, real foods his allergy was reversed!!
Do I simmer honey water and maple syrup until combined and then add in the vanilla bean once it’s in the bottle? Or do I also simmer with a vanilla bean?

Both are fine to do.

Can I replace vanilla bean with vanilla extract?
Reply
No. Vanilla bean is required.

This is great, but only have maple syrup and vanilla extract (and can only get vanilla beans by international delivery). Also, is honey really necessary?
Reply
if you only use maple it will taste very much like maple.

Thanks for sharing this recipe. I’ve have searched everywhere for an alternative to sugar based syrups due to the inflammation it can cause within the body. I’m curious if you ever made this without the maple syrup (honey only) and how that affected the taste. I’m using to flavor vanilla lattes. Thanks!!CH

Just use monk fruit and a splash of vanilla extract!

Your recipe note says you can use 1 cup of organic cane sugar. Is that in place of the Honey AND the Maple Syrup?

Yep!
